When travelling with Master Cross, Allen worked hard and had to give his master all the money he would earn. But what Cross didn't know was that every now and again Allen would sneak a couple of quid or so into his pocket and use that to play poker with to earn more money for food.
The appetite Allen has now wasn't the size it was before. In fact when he was young his appetite was normal until his innocence was first activated, then as the years went by and as he grew it would get bigger and bigger.
If Allen gets a little too hungry for one reason or another, he will start to dream of food in his sleep, occasional ending up eating his pillow or covers. The longer it goes on for the worse it gets to the point he'll think he's seeing food when he clearly isn't.
